You are listening to Ode To Paul

Samples from LAKESHORE NIGHTS

Sidewinder opens the album. The song has a lot of coiling action, like the movement of a sidewinder. See if you can follow the progression. The lead guitar work contains some influence from the fabulous Larry Coryell.

Lakeshore Nights has a sound inspired by the sounds of cars cruising the drive and the fresh breeze cooling off after a hot summer day.

In The Canaries opens with some guitar chords that I associate with some jazz sounds while on the Canary Islands. There is a kind of association I have between the jazz sounds played on vibraphone and the sound of a night cruise on the ocean.

Stars and Water is titled from the image of being out on the ocean, far from landfall. At night, there are stars and water. It is very peaceful, and it can fill you with awe.

Straight Forward is a guitar instrumental, begging for some lyrics. I love this song because it has a comfortable tempo and can be played out, audience tolerant, for a long while.
